Fundraising Tips

- Make a List: Keep a list of potential donors; it will help you stay organized.
- Start early: The more time you give yourself to fundraise, the more successful you’ll be.
- Make it personal: explain to people why SOS matters to you. People who see your passion for SOS will be more likely to donate for you.
- Get the word out: The more people you tell about your page, the more good it will do. Ask the friends and family you tell about your page to tell their friends and family too!
- Be strategic: Ask your close friends and family first, and then move on to your colleagues and co-workers. The people you don’t know as well will be more likely to donate if they see people have already donated to you.
- One a Day: Ask one new person to donate to your page each day. You’ll be surprised how quickly it adds up!
- Send Updates: By keeping friends and family updated on your progress and the cause people will be more invested in the outcome and more inclined to get others involved. Plus, while some people may donate the first time around, it takes most people a few reminders to get them to donate.
- Thank your donors: Everybody likes to feel like they’re appreciated. Send thank you emails or cards to people who donate to your page to let them know that their donation means something to you!
